Dear Governor Patrick:
I am writing to let you know that i still would be interested and available to serve as a temporary Senator- to fill in Secretary of State Kerry's vacant senate seat for the short duration of his remaining term.
Of course- it would ba na honor, and a privilege to serve the poeple of the USA, the Democrat ic party, President Obama, Vice President Biden, Yourself, and the good people of Massachusets- whos interests are universal with the aspirations of the rest of the "99%" of americans who just want to work, play by the rules, and enjoy the benefits of living in the USA.
I was inspired by the JFK stoyr, and the Kennedy Family froma young age, and JFK Junior- was an interesting writer, and publisher, with a fine sense of humor, and seriousness.
I recently read John Kerry's biography-"tour of duty"- about his active duty in Vietnam.
Somewhere- the stories of the USA in WW2 in the Pacific, and the story of JFK, and PT 109, among other dramatic tales- led me to enlist in the Navy, where I served in several hot spots, and received the Navy Expeditionary Medal- during the Iranian Hostage Crisis, and the subsequent cold war support actions in Afghanistan, etc..
Just a dangerous job, thats all. I'm far from a hero, but just a ordinary person.
If you were to select me to serve as Temporary Senator, I of course would do the job, and follow orders, and vte with my fellow partisans, in the best interests of oour constitutens, and I would make you proud. I am genuinely impressed in your qualifications, and skills, and think you would be a fine e;ected official in any higher office you wanted. I follow politics like some folks follow the Indy colts, or the New england Patriots. thats just how I am.
anyway- like the Power ball- cant win if you dont play, so this is my serious entry in the game. the odds are as good as it gets- likely a handful of contenders. Im most assuredly NOT like some of the recent Tea party types who have ran, and are elected, and personaly- would make as one of my side goals- to do all I can to drive them - the tea party types - crazy- and vex them at every turn. I know my History, and these folks are dangerous.
So - for 5 or 6 months, I pledge to show up, do my job, jeep out of trouble, and do my own TOUR OF DUTY- then return back to Indiana, and the Minor leagues, so to say. and then write a book about the experience- lilkey in the style of a hunter s thompson book; and wait and see what the next political opportunity presents itself..
speaking of- some of my previous political escapades? I was an activist/ operative for a n filipina woman who ran for governor of Nevada- in 2006; I wrote several letters to NY Governor Paterson to be considered for the senate now occupied by Kirsten Gillibrand; and had an article published in Wonkette.com. google "random dude" and Wonkette.com- title- random dude should take hillary';s seat.
And more recently- I have dabbled in politics from the side lines as an advisor- most recently for a local woman who ran for county council.
Of course- I have run for elective ofice in my home town, and ran for Congres as a Democrat several times as well. Unfortunatley- it takes lots of cahs, and selling out - and the local democrats in my region- have their own little rackets going on, and dont want any interlopers, or interference. so Im looking for other pastures..
Im currently working - doing good deeds for my friends and neighbors- its the economy , you know- and its a fine line between self employment, and unemployment.
Im also doing some caregiver/caretaker work for m y mom- who is 75, and is in ok health for her age, but my Father ordered my to take care of things around ehre for her. I figure 5 months away- with some visits, and my family in town can take up the slack- while i work as Senator.
Of course- the 50,000 bucks is fine incentive, and will go a long way, as will the title of "SENATOR'- which will realy grease the skids of my local detractors- it would drive them up a wall to have to refer to ME as "SENATOR ROACH".. like GOVERNOR PALIN teehee...
anyway0 If a professional comedian such as Senator Franken, of SNL, can d a good job, and still keep a good humor about it, well, I figure I too could weather the storm , too , so to say..
anyway- sometimes you just have to say what the heck, take a chance, roll the dice, spin the slot machine, etc- to coin a metaphor.
I have 2 college degrees, - and im well qualified- and will assuredly give em hell to the tea party types- a "target rich environment " as they say.. why not- im only going to be there for 5 months, so why not burn some REPUBLICANS? and make the Democrats grin with glee..
Im totally serious about this adventure, and also Caper.. and im sure you would be highly proud, and amused. I will go to great lengths to praise you name, and qualities, and will act as a proxy- as if you were here instead, or in my place, or vice versa- you get the idea.
Im particular about who i follow, and who i serve, and I am totally impressed with you, governor- I watched you on c-span th eother day, and i also have been followng you on google news, and Massachusetts made a great choice in electing you- majorly better than that PRIZE schmuck- mITT ROMNEY; and that other Tea party jack wagon- Senator Scott Brown, aka the naked clown..( I heard he got a part time job in times square as a temproary fill in Naked Cowboy..LOL!!)
but seriously-
call me-
260-485-3681
just say its Deval, and ask for David- about a Temprarty job you have for me..
mail:
see my address in above header; and my e-mail- of course too.
I am a master of political humor, satire, parody- like Mark Twain, or Hunter Thompson, or wil rogers, and under the facade, and such- Im for real, and a nice regular joe..
best wishes whomever you pick, and thansk for you time and consideration, Governor Patrick..
ask MITT if you can borrow his "binders of Women"- and pick someone truly worhy- better than me- maybe Draft Chelsea Clinton- (Senator Clinton, the Name you know?)- Or a Kennedy, naturally..
of course- Senator roach- has a nice ring to it- considering the low esteem that the Capitol hill crowd is held in.. Imagine how fun that would be?
Im a real person, im totally serious about this enterprise; but of course- im looking at it realisticaly, and with an eye towards making fun of the GOP, especially..
so much work to do- so little time- like a 6 month deployment at sea- been there, did that.
as Senator Kerry has said:
Reporting for Duty, SIR!!
best of luck, and best wishes in your future endeavors, Governor Patrick/ Deval.
if you have anything you want to knowabout me- just ask. dont listen to the lies of my local detractors( small town redneck politics, you know..).
Im on facebook- david christopher roach; and have some links , which i have sent to you previously..
by the way- i did tell you my father was a Raytheon Engineer in the 50's and 60's in california, and my brother in law works for raytheon at the local "branch office"...
just a nice coincidence..
anyway- Ill be watching TV at 11 am jan 30th, to see what you do, and of course0 if you select a woman of color, or a woman, or a VETERASN( PCIK ME!)- im sure you will make a great choice.
have a great 2013.
David Christopher Roach.
